The extended search allows you to combine multiple keywords. The following combinations are possible:
+OR: at least one of the keywords must appear to find an article
+AND: all of the keywords must appear to find an article
+NOT: only articles which do not include the keyword used are found
Guided Search Technology
You can configure search settings for each keyword via the “Settings” function. Click on the slider icon to the right of the search box to access the settings for Guided Search Technology.
NEAR: Only finds articles in which the keyword appears near another word. The standard distance is up to eight words. The distance between the words can be changed using a slider.
Limit search to: Only finds articles in which the keyword appears in the selected parts of the article. The standard is that there are no restrictions, meaning all parts are searched.
Search types: Determines how flexibly a keyword can be interpreted. The standard is an ordinary search.
Alternative spellings: For keywords that often appear in articles with synonyms or similar, outdated or incorrect spellings, these can be entered here so that they can be found in the same way as the main spelling.
Example: “HM Treasury”.
Alternative spellings: “Her / His Majesty’s Treasury”, “HMT” or “UK Treasury”.
